Charge Tiktoker Who Insulted Malta’s Police Officers, Union Says In Letter To Commissioner

Malta’s Police Union has launched a formal complaint calling on the Police Commissioner to formally investigate and arraign a TikToker for publishing a video insulting the Maltese police force that went viral online.
In the video, which has been viewed over 21,000 times, “Mona” mocked the police as pufti, a derogatory term for homosexuals, saying that they do nothing when you call them and that they “pass your name on to criminals”.
It has already been criticised by the Marsa Mayor, but now the union is demanding that the woman gets arraigned in court, which they say contains offensive words and false accusations against the members of the Malta Police Union.
It remains to be seen whether the police will act and press criminal charges against the person. While there are laws against insulting police officers, criminal libel has been removed from Malta’s courts.
Should the woman be charged?
