Charles Mifsud Identified As Victim Of Għajn Tuffieħa Fatal Accident
The man who tragically lost his life in yesterday’s workplace accident in Għajn Tuffieħa has been identified as 41-year-old Charles Mifsud from Żebbuġ.
The incident happened at around 12.30pm in Triq il-Palma, when Mifsud, who worked as a contractor, was carrying out construction works on a new reservoir.
One News Malta reported the incident took place when crane being used to move a plank accidentally struck power lines.
The chain attached to the crane transmitted an electric shock, causing Mifsud to collapse and fall into a trench. He was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance but sadly passed away shortly after.
A magisterial inquiry has been launched, while investigations are ongoing by police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA).
