Christian Borg Loses License Of Rental Company With 1,000+ Vehicles After Court Decision
A Court has just ordered the suspension of businessman Christian Borg’s license which enabled him to operate a car rental service of over 1,000 vehicles.
The scrapping of his license comes after Judge Lawrence Mintoff confirmed Transport Malta’s previous suspension earlier today, following Borg’s appeal to a decision by a Tribunal last year.
Borg’s company, under a public service garage license, had a fleet of 1,145 vehicles all available for rent.
Borg appealed Transport Malta’s previous suspension back in 2019, asking for the decision to be revoked, which was taken after local authorities received repeated complaints about his service.
However, the Tribunal argued that Borg was well aware of the issues present in his operations, but he took no action to rectify such problems.
Today, Borg lost a court appeal, with Judge Mintoff confirming the Tribunal’s previous sentence in its entirety, therefore finalising the initial decision.
The Director General for the Consumer Affairs Authority had said that Borg’s operations were shedding a negative light on Malta, while a Transport Malta official had also appeared as a witness in Court, confirming the reports made against Borg’s operations.
