26 months since the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia and activists are still hopeful in their fight against corruption in government.
Activist groups gathered outside the Great Siege Monument last night to pay their respects to the late journalist and to reiterate their commitment to fighting the plague of corruption that has swept over this country over the past few years.
Civil society groups including Occupy Justice, Repubblika and manueldelia.com were in attendance for the vigil along with other members of society who all came in solidarity and carrying photos of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Daphne’s vigil was also used as a platform to address the current state of the political climate in Malta with Repubblika leader Prof Vicki Ann Cremona noting how Christmas had been spoilt by Joseph Muscat and his clique, who have refused to leave Parliament immediately.
“If they want us to enjoy Christmas, Joseph Muscat should leave now, and the police should start investigating him and his gang. Only in that way can Malta be assured that justice is being done,” Cremona said in her speech.
Others speaking on the night include Manuel Delia, Rosa Borg, Sandro Rossi and Irsetta Spinola.

Scenes of previous protests and vigils were also projected on a screen outside the Valletta courthouse followed by a closing ceremony that involved the singing of the National Anthem with those in attendance switching on their mobile light in tribute.
