Claims Of Sexual Harassment At The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Are Being Investigated
Allegations of sexual harassment at the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) are currently being investigated by a newly appointed board and by the police.
These allegations were revealed by The Shift News who said that a former employee was forced to resign from the MPO due to “excessive stress caused by abuse and multiple incidents of sexual harassment”.
The victim filed a criminal complaint with the police and alleged that these incidents took place at the office and during work functions.
According to the report, the former employee made several verbal reports that went unnoticed and thus led to her resignation. Within the letter of resignation, the employee claimed that they were subject to sexual harassment.
A board was thus appointed, according to the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government to investigate the claims.
Lovin Malta can further confirm that a police report was lodged and police investigations are ongoing.
