Clean-Up Activist To Kayak Around Malta To Highlight Plastic Pollution – And She Needs Your Help

One of Malta’s foremost clean-up activists is calling for help to make a 100km kayak journey around Malta and Gozo geared to raise the serious issue of plastic pollution across the island possible.

Cami Appelgren launched an appeal for any boat or company that is willing to sponsor a safety boat that will follow six kayakers for two days (between 22nd – 23rd June) between 6am and 6pm.

“We need a support boat to store water, a first aid kit, any plastic found in the sea and if someone gets ill or need assistance,” Appelgren wrote.

The initiative, which will see the kayakers paddle around Malta and Gozo to some of the country’s most popular bays and beaches, is the latest in a long line of community efforts to address the growing plastic problem.
