Extinction Rebellion Malta, a new pressure group of climate change activists, will be organising a climate protest in front of Parliament at 5:30pm today, which will also include a symbolic “die-in”.

The protest, which is taking place on a day of climate actions across the world, is calling on Malta’s Parliament to declare a climate emergency.

“Everything has been said, the facts are on the table. Today we are silent and strike. Now politicians must act!” Extinction Rebellion Malta said in a statement.

“Members will lie on the ground as a symbolic representation of the consequences of continued inaction.”

The “Die-Ins” have become a key act of symbolic action by the international movement Extinction Rebellion and it is now set to hit Malta tonight as well.

Over the past few days, there have been calls in Malta for greater climate action. The National Youth Council and a number of Maltese MEPs have called for greater action.
