‘Cocaine At Weddings, Baptisms And Workplaces’: PN MP Rebekah Borg Raises Alarm

PN MP Rebekah Borg has expressed serious concern at the widespread usage of cocaine in Malta.

After three LESA officers were fired for snorting cocaine in a work van, Borg warned that the government is closing a blind eye to the “normalisation” of drug use.

“Cocaine at weddings, baptisms and workplaces. We can see it with our own eyes and we often hear about it, yet it’s all business as usual,” she said.

“This concerns me as a parent, as it concerns many other people. How can you not be concerned when drugs have become normalised?”

“I am not condemning drug users, the majority of whom are ordinary people with their own jobs and families. However, the problem is growing.”

Borg said that while the global war on drugs failed, the “wave of liberalism” and acceptance of everything is leaving total destruction in its wake.

“The government isn’t doing enough, when one considers how serious the situation is,” she warned.

“We are talking about children who have already started experimenting with drugs, and families that have been broken by drugs.”

“This isn’t a future risk but a current problem, and if we continue doing nothing our generation will pay the price. Rather than looking to the future, our country will end up abandoning its most vulnerable – our children.”
