Cocaine Mailed To Jason Azzopardi From Germany As PN MP Decries ‘Vicious Frame-Up’
Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi was the unwitting recipient of a sachet of cocaine that was mailed from Germany to the PN’s headquarters last weekend.
“When I collected my mail from the reception at Dar Ċentrali, I found a white envelope that appeared to have been sent to me from Germany,” Azzopardi said in a statement released by the PN.
“When I got home, I opened it and found a silver-coloured sachet that was stuck to a blank A4 paper. In this sachet was concealed another smaller sachet of the same colour and make.”
“When I opened this second sachet, I found white dust with a particular smell that I had never smelled before in my life. I instantly informed the PN leadership that I intended to file a police report so that I would then be able to request a magisterial inquiry into this white dust. The PN leadership instantly agreed with me.”
“I passed this envelope and its contents on to the police at 11pm on Friday and was informed shortly afterwards that a magisterial inquiry had been opened. Inspector Wayne Camilleri, who I thank for his dedication and professionalism, informed me today that the court’s chemical experts had ruled this dust had included cocaine. I am informed that police investigations are ongoing.”
“On a political level, I believe that this was a vicious and nauseating attempt at a frame-up from those who believe they can intimidate me in my work. I tell you from now: you won’t shut me up and this will only strengthen my resolve in my fight against the organised deception and wrongdoing in this country.”
