Janet Walker, one of the victims of yesterday’s wall collapse, has taken to Facebook to beg for temporary accommodation in a central area as the authorities seem to have abandoned her family.

“If someone knows of an apartment for rent, wheelchair friendly, to accommodate us for the time being in central area, can you please answer below as it seems it’s an impossible thing at the moment,” she said.

“We have been given a room in Diplomat Sliema for one night yesterday. We entered around 11pm and we were out by 8am. We hardly slept at all but at least we washed,” she added.

“From 8am till present we were offered an apartment in Qawra but it doesn’t meet our needs. We cannot go to and fro around Malta daily. We have been offered a room in at St George’s Park in Paceville for tonight. I work in Kirkop, my sister works in Paceville, Thea’s school is in Hamrun. Mum needs constant help,” she said, pleading people to share.

“I am sharing a picture of my mother’s leg at the moment! Do you think we should be treated better? We are literally exhausted. Please help me push this forward….share!”

Earlier this morning Walker was asking the public to help source medication for her mother.

The family was rendered homeless after construction next door to their apartment block brought down one of their apartment’s walls. Walker had spent weeks warning the contractors that the excavation would cause an accident. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but the family are not forced out of their home.
