Commissioner For Children Strongly Condemns Valletta Gang Incident, Calling For Immediate Action
The Office of the Commissioner for Children released a statement condemning the violent incident where young people were fighting in Valletta.
This incident prompted the office to call upon all relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action by intervening so the young person involved in the incident will be given all the necessary support.
The office further expressed concern about this bullying incident being uploaded online and how it can cause re-traumatisation for the victim, as well as the potential negative impact on others.
It stressed that a culture of empathy needs to be instilled in children and young people to prevent such incidents from occurring while also encouraging them not to be bystanders and to seek help in these situations.
Do you agree young people need to be more compassionate?
