Popular foodie page FoodBlog’s Andrew Johnson found his car absolutely smashed last night when a piece of a balcony fell onto it while it was parked in Valletta.

Posting photos on his Instagram account to raise awareness, Johnson expressed that while he was devastated that his car was destroyed, he’s thankful no one was injured in the ordeal.

“This is how I found my car this evening. Someone else’s carelessness in maintaining their balcony destroyed my car and could have killed someone,” Johnson said.

The photos illustrate how his windscreen was completely smashed, while his roof was clearly damaged, with some of the rocks even coming into the car itself. He even shared a video showing the exact building from which the rocks fell.

“Parked at 9.15 along Old Bakery Street Valletta, and two hours later received a call that my car has been crushed by a piece of a balcony from almost the top floor,” he recalled.

“Apparently a similar case happened in Valletta earlier this week or last week. Be careful when walking/driving in Valletta as it’s clearly not safe.”

“Devastated, but thankful no one was injured. Stay safe.”

He continued by thanking officers from the Malta Police Force for their immediate assistance in dealing with the incident.
