COVID Alert Malta: New Virus Tracking App Launches Today
A new COVID-19 tracking app developed for Malta has been launched for smartphones.
The app, COVID Alert Malta, will notify you if you’ve recently been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 using a Bluetooth contact tracing system.
The app, which is available in both English and Maltese, was developed by the Malta Information Technology Agency and Malta Digital Innovation Authority along with health authorities.
It is available for download for free from the Apple App store and Google Play.
This new app will allow for more efficient tracking of the virus, and will be an additional tool for health authorities to communicate with people and notify them of any developments. It is hoped that the app will minimise contact-tracing delays and help healthcare professionals deal with rising numbers of cases.
A press conference is set to be held on Friday to explain the app in further detail.
