Crisis In Malta’s Construction Industry: No Place For Developers To Legally Dump Their Waste

The construction industry faces imminent paralysis as 400 excavation and demolition contractors cannot find any legal dumping solutions at any price, according to the Malta Development Association.

The situation has reached critical proportions and has been labelled as an emergency situation by the MDA who has said that ‘it is no longer a situation of escalating dumping costs pushing up property prices’ but rather the fact that ‘members are not finding any dumping sites that will accept their construction waste at any cost.’

The issue stems from both private and national construction projects ongoing at the moment.

MDA has appealed to the Government to take immediate and definitive action as the industry has reached a standstill in this regard.
