Dangerous Billboard Removed A Day After Cyclists Raise Red Flag

A new billboard that enraged pedestrians and cyclists passing through Għajn Dwieli road on the way to Bormla Tunnels has been removed in record time following an article we uploaded last Friday.

The problem was first flagged by cyclist Jonathan Sammut, who uses the path on his daily commute to work. “Those hoping to pass must either bow down beneath… or step into the road, risking being hit by a car.”

Later that week, we got an unexpected follow-up from Jonathan explaining that the billboard was nowhere in sight.

“I just passed through this route again this morning… I am pleased to inform you that the billboard has actually been removed! This must be a record time for action having been taken on behalf of pedestrians and cyclists.”

Jonathan had originally messaged Transport Malta to bring up the issue, but they directed him to the planning authority. When he reported the matter to PA, he was told he had to report it online with the coordinates of the road and the exact locality responsible for the area.
