Daphne Caruana Galizia To Get Her Own TV Series, American Studio Confirms
A New York studio has confirmed it is working on a series based on the life and death of assassinated Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Entertainment website Variety reported today that Topic Studios, in collaboration with U.S. incubator Vespucci Group and Italy’s Indiana Production, is developing a series which will be directed by Israeli filmmaker Noah Stollman.
It will be based on ‘Murder on the Malta Express’, a book co-authored by renowned British journalist John Sweeney, along with La Republicca editor Carlo Bonini and Maltese journalist-blogger Manuel Delia.
The book, which will be officially launched this evening, details Caruana Galizia’s murder and delves into her most famous stories in an attempt to find out who was behind her assassination.
“Through Manuel, John and Carlo, we have unprecedented access to an extremely timely story set against the backdrop of the global threat on journalism,” producer Daniel Turcan, co-founder of the Vespucci Group, said in a statement.
“Daphne’s tenacious investigations exposed Malta as a microcosm of global corruption, revealing collusion, off-shore bank accounts, money laundering, shady privatization deals, and severe sexual impropriety.”
