Daphne Caruana Galizia’s Protest Memorial Cleared Yet Again Following A Turbulent Night In Valletta

Daphne Caruana Galizia’s makeshift memorial in Valletta has been cleared yet again last night after a turbulent day in Malta’s history and amidst political scandals plaguing Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s office.
The Guardian journalist Juliette Garside took to Twitter last night to say that, so far, the memorial had not been removed.
The memorial to #DaphneCaruanaGalizia is normally cleared away each night, on Govt orders. This evening, so far, nobody has touched it. pic.twitter.com/9Y4qUkOlnj

However, people woke up to a familiar sight this morning; candles, flowers and placards being cleared yet again.
Isthi jekk taf kif. Shame on you @OwenBonnici. To keep clearing the memorial even after all that's happened is obscene. Blood on your hands, you bastard. @occupyjusticema #DaphneCaruanaGalizia pic.twitter.com/q68ndBDWiB

Joseph Muscat’s office has come under serious scrutiny over the last couple of days, with yesterday seeing his Chief of Staff Keith Schembri stepping down, alongside Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi and Economy Minister Chris Cardona, who announced he had “suspended” himself.
Yet despite all this – and new revelations on the murder investigation of Caruana Galizia – the Cleansing Department still went on to remove the makeshift memorial to the assassinated journalist.
Daphne Caruana Galizia’s son Matthew Caruana Galizia took to Twitter earlier this morning to post a scathing remark at Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in light of the memorial being removed one more time.
“Even after his chief of staff was arrested on suspicion of murder, Muscat still ordering the memorial to my mum to be cleared.”
