Daphne Caruana Galizia’s Valletta Memorial Has Been Wiped Out Yet Again
Government officials have removed a makeshift memorial erected for journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia on the second anniversary of her assassination.
The memorial, placed at feet of the Great Siege monument opposite the Law Courts in Valletta, has been the source of countless disputes.
Over the past two years, people would pay tribute to Caruana Galizia by placing candles, photos and flowers on the steps of the monument only to find that they would be removed overnight.
It was later revealed that Minister Owen Bonnici had often ordered their removal.
The memorial, which was erected after a protest, was left untouched for two nights and lasted longer than many of its previous versions.
The protest memorial was removed at 1 am by government workers. If they really want to act as if they are doing all they can to find out who ordered #DaphneCaruanaGalizia‘s assassination, you’d think they’d leave it alone. So we can only ask what makes them so eager to remove it.
