Dead Inmate Identified As Man Who Murdered Warden In Gozo 19 Years Ago

The 72-year-old inmate who was found dead at Corradino prison this morning has been identified.

The prisoner has been identified as bus drive John Attard, according to the Times of Malta, who was serving life imprisonment for being an accomplice in the murder of a female traffic warden in Gozo 19 years ago.

The Gozitan was discovered unconscious in his cell at 6:30 am and pronounced dead shortly after. The cause of death has yet to be released.

In 2010, Attard was serving life in prison for the murder of Fortunata Spiteri, who was stabbed to death in 2001. His motivation for killing the traffic warden was because she was issuing too many fines.
