Delia Proposes Fall Detectors And Other Technologies For Elderly Care

PN leader candidate Adrian Delia has proposed a range of technologies within elderly healthcare.

“In countries like Estonia, citizens of all ages benefit from their government’s excellent application of technology,” Delia said in an opinion piece on Times of Malta.

“In Robert Abela’s Malta, the tools that can make our lives better are consigned to the margins of policy. Under a new PN government the use of technology will become central to how we govern, care, and grow.”

Delia said that a new PN government under his watch would introduce devices like fall detectors, smart pill dispensers, and video-call health check-ins, supported by digitally trained care workers.

He added that it would also roll out AI-based health monitoring systems that can track wellbeing indicators like irregular sleep, missed medication or signs of cognitive decline, and alert family members or health professionals in real time.

“These will be available to elderly citizens who wish to live independently but safely,” he said.

Delia also proposed the introduction of “digital clinics” in every locality to help elderly people who are less digitally fluent. These would be walk-in help desks where senior citizens can get support with services like appointment booking, benefit access, or simply using a phone.
