Demolish Bidnija ODZ ‘Sheep Farm’ After ‘Deceit, Lies And Malpractice’, Moviment Graffitti Says

Moviment Graffitti is calling on the public to join in with its formal objection against controversial plans to turn a Bidjna ‘sheep farm’ into a residence, retail outlet and guesthouse.

“This new, outrageous application has laid bare the real intentions behind the already-approved application, which led to the construction of a massive two-storey structure, fitted with a pool and a reception area, in ODZ, under the pretext of a sheep farm,” Moviment Graffitti said.

“It has always been crystal clear that this building was not intended for its stated use and that it was approved through a series of deceit, lies and malpractice.”

The sheep farm, which was approved in February 2019, has long been controversial and objectors had warned that the project was simply a smokescreen for further development in the untouched valley.

It covers a massive 3,200 square metres in Wied tal-Ħżejjen, which lies within ODZ.

According to the new plans, the lower groundfloor will have pens for adult sheep, chickens and rabbits, a lambing bay, a milking parlour and a dairy production room.

However, the upper levels will have a kitchen, retail outlet, residence, educational/therapy area, exhibition area, tasting area, two guest rooms and a breakfast/dining area.

The new plans were submitted by Peter Bernard Carbonaro on behalf of Bidnija Farming Enterprise Ltd, which is owned by Konrad Bezzina.

Moviment Graffitti warned that the proposal will cause harm to the ecologically-sensitive area.

However, it also called for the immediate demolition of this structure and for the site to be returned to its natural state at the developer’s expense.

“Over the past three years, the people were revulsed at the sight of a massive structure rising in the middle of an untouched valley; a symbol of the abject failure of our planning system,” it said.

“Now, the public has the opportunity to send their disgust, directly and formally, to the PA by objecting to this new application.”

“The fight against this obscenity will continue.”

You can object to the project by sending an email to [email protected] or by following this link, until 4th November. Moviment Graffitti’s objection can be viewed here.
