Derelict Building In Valletta Could Soon Become Social Housing Under Planning Application
A derelict building in Valletta could soon be demolished to become social housing.
A planning application by the government-owned company Social Innovative Projects Management Ltd looks to demolish the building due to its current deteriorated state.
No new storeys will be added. However, the internal space will be entirely redesigned to accommodate its new use.
According to plans, the new building will consist of three units and will include communal living spaces and meeting rooms for the residents.
It appears that the residence will house two units for eight males and one unit for four females.
The government is already planning to increase social housing stock sufficiently. However, it has also begun to identify derelict buildings that could be added to the stock.
