Disappointing Paceville Lap Dance Ends With English Tourist Biting Police Officer’s Ear
An English tourist was given a suspended sentence after attacking a Maltese police officer following an incident in a gentlemen’s club in Paceville.
The man, Ben Mawdsley, 35, was fined €800 and given a 14-month suspended sentence after being found guilty of slightly injuring an officer and trying to steal two bottles of alcohol from the club.
The incident arose after the man said he felt disappointed by the level of lap dance he was given in the club, which has remained unnamed, for the amount of money he paid for it, TVM reported.
After the disappointing lap dance, the man attempted to leave the club with two bottles of alcohol, but was stopped by bouncers, who called for police.
However, when police arrived on scene Mawdsley began arguing with them and eventually injured one officer by biting him in the ear.
Mawdsley’s defence argued that in the United Kingdom, where he was from, bouncers where blue and black uniforms, so Mawdsley could have easily mistaken a Maltese police officer for a bouncer when attacking him.
However, this was not enough to convince Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech who was presiding over the case, who handed him the suspended sentence.
Malta’s gentlemen’s clubs have often made it to the news for the exorbitant amounts of money some clients spend in a single night, sometimes under questionable circumstances.
However, incidents were men turned violent due to the nature of the lap dance in question are typically less common.
Have you ever encountered a situation like this, in Malta or abroad?
