‘Disgusted And Appalled’: Għargħur Women’s Club Lambasts Racist Chants During Football Match

A woman’s football team in Għargħur has called out racist behaviour of a supporter during an under 19’s league match against Mosta FC held on Sunday.
“Raiders GFC is disgusted and appalled by the behaviour of a supporter’s racist comments which makes reference to one of our team players,” the club wrote on social media.
“Chants of this nature besmirch the good name of Football Clubs and the fans,” it warned.
Commentors pledged their support for the Raiders GFC striker in question, Maya Lucia, whose winning shot won the match.
The football team said it “wholly condemned” the chants and urged all other clubs to call out such behaviour. The Malta Football Association and police have been contacted for further action against the perpetrator.
“We know we can rely on the assistance of all football clubs in Malta to eradicate this toxic behaviour immediately,” the club said.
