‘Dog Fighting Has Returned To Malta’: MP Urges Police To Clamp Down On Barbaric Hobby

The barbaric hobby of organised dog fighting has returned to Malta, Nationalist MP Mario Galea warned today.

“I have just received information that dog fighting has made a comeback,” Galea said in parliament. “I was told exactly where this is happening and I am willing to provide more information to the parliamentary secretary or the police. We need to conduct raids and forget about the political colours of the dog fighters, because PN and PL supporters alike have this accursed hobby.”

Galea also warned that old racehorses are being killed illegally in a building between Ħaz-Żebbuġ and Siġġiewi and then sold to the slaughterhouse.

“I’ve heard that these people put a black bag over the horses’ heads, let them suffocate and then tell the slaughterhouse that they had died of a sudden heart attack,” he said. “Yes, their hearts would have stopped but the agony of suffocation lasts between six and seven minutes.”
