Drowned Man Dragged Onto Land In Tigné Dies In Hospital

A 42-year-old Eritrean man has been confirmed as dead after his unconscious body was seen floating in the sea near Tigné Bay Sliema and dragged onto land by members of the general public.

The police were called in to assist in an incident involving an unconscious person in Sliema. When they arrived, they found the unresponsive man being tended to by people who were in the area at the time.

The incident happened at around 3pm today.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance where he was given treatment. However, he was certified as dead shortly afterwards by doctors.

Magistrate Dr J. Mifsud has appointed various court experts to assist in an inquiry. Police are continuing their investigations into the death.
