A 23-year-old man who was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol caused a stir in Santa Venera late last night when he crashed head-on into a police car.

According to TVM, the incident took place at around 11:30pm when the man, who had a female passenger with him, was driving towards Fleur-Des-Lys.

The man reportedly lost control of his vehicle, crashing into a parked car and skidding to the other side of the other road, where he crashed head-on into a police car. The force of impact was enough to knock the police car onto the pavement, and the man’s vehicle went on to crash into two motorbikes that were parked nearby.

The driver and passenger, as well as two police officers, were hospitalised after the incident. One of the officers was certified to have suffered grievous injuries, but the Blue Light Foundation, which provides support to first responders, later said that his situation isn’t serious but that he is being kept at hospital for now.
