€120,000 Armoured Car Transporting Yorgen Fenech From Prison To Parliament PAC Hearing Today

Suspected mastermind Yorgen Fenech is set to be transported from the confines of his cell to parliament later today in a €120,000 American armoured SUV for the PAC hearing.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing is scheduled for this afternoon at 2pm, after Fenech was summoned to testify in the Auditor General’s investigation of a controversial contract awarded by Enemalta to Electrogas.

Around three years ago, Malta’s Correction Services Agency was equipped with a bullet-proof Ford car worth over €120,000 to escort high-profile inmates.

With its internal beacon lights, unbreakable glass, and sturdy bullbar, the exceptionally customized Ford SUV was quite an investment.

Although the car is often used to transport high-profile suspects, a high-security operation has been devised to make the transportation of Fenech as seamless as possible, with a security plan drafted for both inside and outside parliament.

Fenech was an Electrogas director, who resigned from his position after his arrest in connection to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. He remains a company shareholder.

During the last sitting, PAC Chairman Darren Carabott placed forward a request for Fenech to testify in its next sitting – to which there were no objections.
