A search of the vehicle uncovered 105 kilograms of suspected cocaine hidden in the cabin behind the driver and passenger seats.

Further searches in a container at the Freeport revealed an additional 41 kilograms of the suspected drug.

The cocaine, which originated from the port of Guayaquil in Ecuador, was reportedly intended for sale on the local market.

The arrested individuals include the driver and passenger of the trailer, both Freeport workers, and two other individuals connected to the operation.

The four suspects are Maltese men aged 44, 46, 36, and 41, residing in Birżebbuġa, Fgura, Żebbuġ, and Żabbar, respectively.

An inquiry led by Magistrate Ian Farrugia is underway, with police investigations ongoing.
