Early Voting Turnout Up Significantly From Last MEP And Local Council Elections

Article Featured Image

As of 2pm, 42.59% of eligible European Parliament voters and 41.13% of eligible local council voters cast their vote.

This figure includes people who voted on previous voting days.

It represents a significant increase in early voter turnout from the last time these elections were held back on 2019. Back then, only 31.99% of eligible European Parliament voters and 27.58% of eligible local council voters voted by 2pm. However, back then, the Electoral Commission didn’t clarify whether the figures includes the votes cast people who voted on previous days.

The final turnout in 2019 stood at just under 73%, which means that if voting patterns continue at the current rate, a much higher turnout could be expected this time around.
