Education Minister Urges Mizzi And Schembri To Resign ‘For The Sake Of Society’s Most Vulnerable’
Education Minister Evarist Bartolo has publicly called on Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi and the Prime Minister’s Keith Schembri to resign, warning that their continued presence in power is damaging the Labour Party.
“Even the strongest and most bountiful trees must be pruned occasionally to prevent the sickness spreading to the rest of the tree,” Bartolo said on Facebook. “If we allow the tree that is the Labour Party to die, who will suffer? Is it those who have it good? No, it’s the voiceless in society who will suffer the most.”
“The tree is greater than the sum of its branches. Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri can choose to resign for the sake of those people for whom the Labour Party was set up. The PL must then take care of the rest of the tree to prevent it from dying before it’s too late.”
Bartolo’s post comes as the Labour Party’s parliamentary group prepares to convene for the first time since Yorgen Fenech was arrested in connection with the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
