Self-made Egyptian billionaire and former Fulham FC owner, Mohamed Al-Fayed passed away at 94 years old.

Al-Fayed was born in Alexandria, Egypt, beginning his career selling soft drinks and working as a sewing-machine salesman. He successfully paved the way for his family in real estate, shipping and construction and eventually bought the famous Harrods store.

Al-Fayed was the father of Dodi, Princess Diana’s partner who tragically died in a car crash in Paris. Mohamed had always questioned the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

A statement was released yesterday afternoon by his family:

“Mrs Mohamed Al-Fayed, her children and grandchildren wish to confirm that her beloved husband, their father and their grandfather, Mohamed, has passed away peacefully of old age on Wednesday 30 August, 2023,” they explained. “He enjoyed a long and fulfilled retirement surrounded by his loved ones. The family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time.”

The funereal service took place at London’s Central Mosque in Regents Park on Friday, following Islamic convention to bury the dead as soon as possible after passing.

Rest in peace.
