Eighteen Vehicles Destroyed In Suspected Late-Night Arson Attack In Gudja
At least 18 vehicles were seriously damaged in a blaze last night in Gudja parking lot, with several other nearby vehicles also sustaining damage.
An investigation has been launched by the Arsons Unit along with the Żejtun District Police.
The incident occurred at around 11.45pm last night, police were informed that a fire had been started in Triq Dawret il-Gudja. When they arrived, they found several vehicles ablaze, with members of the Civil Protection Department called in to control the fire.
The operation lasted until 3am. No one was hurt in this incident.
Magistrate Caroline Farrugia has been appointed to lead the inquiry, with several experts appointed to assist her.
The incident comes after two other Maltese youths were recently arrested and charge with a string of other arson attacks in Malta and Valletta. During a court sitting, it was revealed that one of the youths would even fling Molotov cocktails from his electric scooter as he whizzed targets.
