Elderly Man Dies After Encountering Difficulties While Swimming In Ħondoq
A 73-year-old man from Qala tragically lost his life yesterday evening after encountering difficulties while swimming at Ħondoq Bay inGozo.
The incident happened at around 6.30pm, when police were called to assist at the popular bay.
Initial investigations revealed that the man experienced some difficulty while swimming. Bystanders nearby immediately stepped in to help, pulling him out of the water and administering first aid.
Medical teams arrived shortly after and transported him to the Gozo General Hospital by ambulance but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Magistrate Simone Grech has opened a magisterial inquiry, while police investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
