An elderly woman was run over by a motorcycle yesterday in Birkirkara.

The incident occurred at around 3.15pm in Triq Dun Karm, leading to a road closure following the incident.

Police found that an 89-year-old female resident of Birkirkara was hit by a Kentoya Viking motorcycle, which was being driven by a 33-year-old Gozitan resident.

The elderly woman required medical attention and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital. She was then certified to be suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
