Enemalta Blames Farsons For Beer Fest Power Cut

Enemalta has pinned the blame for last night’s power cut at the Farsons Beer Festival on the organisers of the event.

“Enemalta would like to clarify that the power cut wasn’t caused by our distribution system,” the national energy provider said.

“Enemalta technicians and engineers immediately went on site, where inspections and tests on the substation that supplies the Ta’ Qali national park found that the provision was fine.”

“Tests showed that the organisers had requested less current than was necessary for the event. Enemalta would like to remind people that it is the responsibility of the organisers to identify what type of current they need and to prepare according to this need. Although the problem wasn’t caused by Enemalta’s system, our technical teams present on site offered assistance to organisers to solve the problem.”

In a statement, Farsons confirmed that the festival suffered a power cut and the standby generator kicked in within 30 minutes, after which the festival then carried on largely uninterruptedly.

“The source of the power cut has been identified and is being addressed,” they said.

“We thank everyone, including the performers, for your patience and collaboration last night and hope that you all had a great time and will join us again tonight. On stage tonight are headliners Shaun Farrugia on Main Stage, Iron Maiden Tribute on Rock Stage and DJ Ruby at Casa Electronica.”

A number of politicians lashed out at the authorities after last night’s Beer Festival power cut.

“You’ve disgusted the nation and the people are fed up. Time for change,” PN MP Adrian Delia remarked.

Malta and Gozo have experienced several power cuts in the past few weeks, in a repeat of last year’s incidents, which left many without electricity for extended periods.
