The Lionesses have beaten Germany in England’s biggest international win in football since 1966.

England were able to hold Germany back and win 2 – 1 in the Women’s Euro 2022 final held at Wembley Stadium Sunday evening.

The major win came after Chloe Kelly’s extra time goal sent the packed Wembley Stadium into a frenzy, with the ladies in white seriously impressing fans both present and watching from around the globe.

The win was particularly satisfying for fans who remember England’s loss to Germany in their previous European finals appearance in 2009.

After the match, social media was flooded with reactions – with the players themselves skyrocketing into the wider public’s view, some of whom were being called ‘national heroes’.

Locally, the Malta Women’s Football Association shared a post celebrating the historic win, and others took to social media to applaud the team on proving their skills on the world stage.
