“Enough Is Enough” – Local Resident Slams Unsafe Demolition Works Next Door

A local resident has spoken out over dangerous and disruptive demolition works taking place at a neighbouring building, calling the situation “unacceptable” and “increasingly common across the island”.

Greg Salamata, a member of the Expats Malta community, shared a public post describing how demolition began on a nearby penthouse without any notice, consent, or basic regard for safety.

Since the works began, residents have reportedly faced falling rubble and debris on both front and rear terraces, workers entering private spaces without permission, and exposed electrical wires hanging over balconies — all without warning or cleanup.

“No communication, no protective measures, no cleanup — just complete negligence,” Salamata wrote. “This is not a minor inconvenience. It’s a clear disregard for safety, basic decency, and legal boundaries.”

The incident has been reported to the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), and residents are now waiting for enforcement.

While the developer has not been publicly named, Salamata warned that such behaviour is becoming all too familiar: “It shows a total lack of respect for the people living around the site. Enough is enough.”

The post has struck a chord with many in the local expat and Maltese communities, who say similar stories are far too frequent.
