Esplora Interactive Science Centre has just launched its highly anticipated Educators’ Programme for the 2024-2025 school year, offering an array of resources, workshops, and interactive experiences designed to inspire both students and teachers.

With a focus on enhancing the national curriculum, the programme aims to foster a love for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects among students while empowering educators with innovative teaching methods and hands-on activities.

Minister for Education Clifton Grima, emphasised the programme’s goal of encouraging more students to pursue STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects.

“This initiative is part of our ongoing work to motivate students to choose more STEAM subjects. Esplora plays a crucial role in this by making science engaging and accessible. It aligns with the National Strategy for Education, which focuses on digital literacy and the professional development of educators,” Grima said.

Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of science education in sparking curiosity and making students aware of how science impacts daily life.

“We believe that instilling a love for learning in students starts from a young age, and this programme aims to do just that.”

This year’s programme features new workshops that align closely with the national curriculum, supporting learning outcomes set by schools. It also includes professional development sessions for teachers, focusing on practical teaching techniques and digital literacy integration.

Key themes for the 2024-2025 programme include sustainability, digital innovation, and career pathways in STEM, ensuring students receive relevant, future-focused knowledge that connects to real-world issues and opportunities.

Schools are encouraged to bring their students to Esplora for interactive visits, where they can explore exhibits and participate in experiments that make science come alive.

In addition, Esplora is offering an Exclusive Educators Membership Card for just €10, giving educators free access to Esplora and its thematic educational events, along with entry for one additional adult and two children, valid from 1st September 2024 to 31st August 2025.

Olaf McKay, Senior Director of Esplora, expressed the centre’s commitment to supporting educators. “We aim to empower teachers to inspire curiosity and critical thinking in their students. With this year’s programme, we are making science more accessible, exciting, and relevant for students of all ages,” he said.

Permanent Secretary for Education Matthew Vella emphasised how programmes like this help educators go beyond traditional methods, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge in engaging and practical ways.
