European Commission President Visits Nadur Primary School Ahead Of Summit

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, together with Prime Minister Robert Abela, visited the Nadur primary school together earlier this morning.
This comes as a significant investment was recently made for the school, involving extensive improvements and a better environment for educators and the two hundred students who attend the school.
The project in the school was conducted with a capital investment of more than €6 million from European funds under the NextGenerationEU Program through Malta’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
This project includes new open and recreational spaces and new learning spaces for extracurricular subjects, including performing arts. Work was undertaken focusing on accessibility in the school, and several measures favouring energy efficiency were introduced in the building.
After visiting the school along with the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation Clifton Grima, and the Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Chris Bonett, the Prime Minister and the President of the European Commission addressed the journalists present.
Robert Abela described the Nadur school project as a concrete example of how we are solidly building the future. He said the school is part of a tangible difference that will leave a legacy in the community.
“This is a project that will be a tool for citizens to have the skills of the future,” stated Abela.
Prime Minister Robert Abela thanked the European Commission and its President for the NextGenerationEU program because it is a way to also spread the wealth among island regions like Gozo.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Malta and the European Union can make a difference in people’s lives and prepare Malta for tomorrow.
