Exclusive: Angelo Gafà Won’t Resign As Police Chief – And Will Seek A Second Term
Angelo Gafà has dismissed rumours that he plans to resign as police commissioner and confirmed that he actually intends to run for a second term.
“We live in a VUCA world, a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world,” Gafà said in an exclusive interview with Lovin Malta’s Johnathan Cilia.
“In an ever-changing world, my plan is to continue leading the police force after June.”
Gafà recounted how he had been facing rumours since before he even landed the top job at the police.

“Even Lovin Malta was used as a portal to post frivolous allegations against me and I appreciate that you published my response,” he said.
This was a reference to his disproval of allegations raised by former PN MP Jason Azzopardi that Gafà had purchased a car from a man he had once investigated.
“Not only did the people who started these rumours fail to apologise but they intensified their rumours over the years,” the police commissioner said.
“As I said before, I turn these confrontations against me into energy and resilience. I have grown a thick skin by now and I have learned to remain focused on police work. Particularly in September 2020, the police force launched a transformation strategy. It’s a really challenging task for the police to adapt to changes around us.”
