Adrian Vella, the Fenech family doctor who admitted Yorgen Fenech into Mater Dei hospital during his interrogation, has been arrested and taken in for questioning by police officers.

Sources told Lovin Malta that Yorgen Fenech named Adrian Vella as being a middleman for the former Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, flagging Vella’s decision to admit him to Mater Dei Hospital.

Yorgen Fenech is a major businessman who has been arrested as a key suspect in the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

On 23rd November,  Fenech was able to escape further interrogation once he was admitted to hospital at around 1pm with chest pain. On the hospital’s recommendation, he was not interrogated for the next 24 hours.

Prior to his admittance to the hospital, reports had emerged that Fenech had requested a presidential pardon for information on the murder, much like the middleman had done less than a week before.

Fenech was first arrested while trying to flee Malta on his yacht during the early hours of the morning last Wednesday. He is yet to be charged with any crime, while police have conducted extensive searches of his yacht and home.

Yesterday, he was put on police bail once again. It appears he has revealed significant information to investigators given that the Prime Minister’s chief of staff Keith Schembri was arrested and ministers Konrad Mizzi, and Chris Cardona stepped down yesterday.
