Exorcist Summoned To Testify In Trial Over ‘Satanic Abuse’ At Marsaskala Home
Prosecutors brought an exorcist to testify in a disturbing trial involving a man who allegedly raped his girlfriend’s mother while under the guise of “satanic” voices.
As reported by MaltaToday from court, Fr John Vella testified that the mother had contacted him first and that he had occasionally also seen her husband, her youngest daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend – the accused.
The Franciscan friar refused to disclose what they discussed during these meetings since they spoke under the seal of confession, but he confirmed that the mother told him outside the confessional that he had participated in rituals.
The mother and her husband had wanted them to bless their Marsaskala home and when he visited it, he found a complete mess, with broken glass and other objects everywhere.
Fr Vella said the family had told him a grandfather clock had moved by itself to block a corridor and that when he left the house, he noticed a clock fall off the wall. However, he said he didn’t feel a spiritual presence in the house and couldn’t rule out the possibility that the clock had fallen for non-supernatural reasons.
The exorcists visited the home a second time to celebrate mass with the mother and her friend but didn’t notice any signs of demonic presence.
To be absolutely certain, Fr Vella visited the house for a third time with another priest to carry out an exorcism ritual – with the mother, father, daughter and accused all present – but once again neither of them noticed anything amiss.
Vella had paid a second visit to the house to celebrate mass. He could not recall whether the accused was there but was certain that the mother was present, as was a second man who was described as a friend of the mother’s. “I know he [the friend] was at Mount Carmel with the mother. They told me he was trying to help the family.”
“Did anything happen during the mass?” asked the court. “I noticed nothing,” he replied.
To be sure that there was no demonic presence in the house and to reassure the family occupying it, he had gone together with another priest, to carry out the solemn ritual of exorcism.
“We didn’t notice anything [amiss],” reported the exorcist. “The parents, the accused and his girlfriend were present.”
The disturbing case dates back to 29th January 2019 in a Marsaskala residence where the accused, who was 18 at the time, used to live with his girlfriend, who was a minor.
During the trial, the mother testified that she had heard voices giving her “satanic” orders, including to do her business on her balcony, use a broomstick to carry out sexual acts with a relative, and to get punched by her own daughter.
However, she said the voices stopped hearing when the accused was no longer present.
An inspector also testified in the trial, stating that police found evidence of satanic practices in the residence, including a burning cross in the bathroom, a broomstick that was allegedly used for sexual acts, and three dogs that were bought on orders from the devil.
