Extremely Strong Winds Set To Batter Maltese Islands Today As Temperatures Slowly Start Climbing
Strong winds are set to not only return to Malta after last weekend’s gusts, but come back in full force, especially today. In fact, this morning kicked off with Malta Airport’s forecast page issuing a weather warning on the strong Northwestern winds that are set to batter the islands later today.
This week is off to a windy start today, with the already strong Force 6 winds set to go all the way up to Force 7 and even Force 8 soon.
Yep; hold on to your hats (and literally everything else), because mid-January is getting windy AF. Force 4 and 5 winds will also be present through most of the week, with Wednesday and Thursday being particularly gusty.
Even the rain should make a couple of appearances, with isolated showers forecasted for later today and Thursday.
The rest of the week is set to be cloudy, but Tuesday does seem to hold a sunny respite… and a calmer day, at Force 3 to 4 winds.
While it might have not felt like it this morning, it does seem to be getting warmer this week
Tomorrow in particular holds a very different forecast when compared to the last couple of day, with highs of 16°C taking the sunny Tuesday back to perfect picnic weather. The evenings will still be rather fresh, with Tuesday night ironically being the coldest, at 9°C.
As far as temperatures go, this weekend could hold the warmer days most people have been yearning for, with Friday kicking off at highs of 17°C, which will make it feel like one of the warmest days of 2019 yet.
Of course, this is mid-January we’re talking about, so don’t expect the cloudy days, rain spells and cold strong winds to go anywhere anytime soon.
