Fabio Spiteri Sets Out To Raise €100,000 In Upcoming Mega Races
Malta’s very own superman, Fabio Spiteri, has set a goal to raise €100,000 for animal shelters in his three upcoming mega races.
After he became the first and only Maltese to finish the DECA race in Italy last year, he set his sights on three big races in June, August and November.
On 23rd June, Spiteri will be heading to Colmar, France for the DECA race consisting of 38-kilometre swim, 1,800-kilometre bike and 422-kilometre run. After completing this race last year in 264 hours, he’s aiming to reduce his time by a full 24 hours. To achieve his current time, he was only sleeping three hours per day.
His second race will take place in Austria on 30th August. He’ll compete in the Triple Iron which consists of an 11.4-kilometre swim, a 540-kilometre and a 211-kilometre run. His goal is to beat his own national record of 45 hours.
Spiteri’s third race is another DECA, this time in Taiwan. It will take place on 8th November and consist of the same distances and sports as the one in France. Once again, he’s going to try and beat his iconic national record.
Last year, Spiteri managed to raise a whopping €77,500 and this year, he hopes to get a nice, even €100,000 to donate to animal shelters across Malta and Gozo.
