Failed Republican Candidate Senator Rand Paul In Malta

Kentucky Senator and former Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul is currently in Malta on holiday. Although his visit is not a formal one, he still found time to meet up with Malta’s president Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, posing for photos with her and signing her guestbook.

Readers might remember Rand Paul, once described by Time magazine as “the most interesting man in politics, from the Republican Party’s feisty presidential primaries in 2015 and 2016. Like his father Ron Paul, who also ran as a Republican candidate in 2008 and 2012, Rand Paul ran on a libertarian ticket but he performed poorly and dropped out after finishing fifth in the Iowa caucuses.

After dropping out, he endorsed fellow Republican Donald Trump despite having previously described him as a “delusional narcissist and an orange-faced windbag” and claiming that a “speck of dirt would be way more qualified to be president”.

His clash with Trump during a TV debate provided one of many bizarre entertainment highlights during the Republican primaries.

“I’m very concerned at having Trump in charge of nuclear weapons,” Paul said. “Look at his visceral response to attack people on their appearance – short, tall, fat, ugly…my goodness, that happened in in junior high; would we not be worried to have someone like that in charge of the nuclear weapons?

Trump’s response: “I never attacked him on his looks and believe me, theres plenty of subject matter right there.”
