A man residing in Fgura is at risk of dying after a robbery in a gold shop situated in Żurrieq.

The robbery occurred last night at around 8pm, in a gold shop situated along Triq Ġużeppi Żammit in Żurrieq.

Upon going on site, police found a man tied to a chair with various wounds on his body. A medical team and members from the Civil Protection Department were called on site to assist, with an ambulance transporting the man to Mater Dei Hospital.

Investigations found that two men had stormed into the shop, tied up the man, stole various items, and fled the scene.

It was later certified that the 67-year-old victim is suffering from life-threatening injuries and is currently at risk of dying.

Magistrate Victor Axiak is leading an inquiry.
