The first local council of the final night of counting has gone to the Nationalist Party who won the majority in San Lawrenz, Gozo with four seats to the Labour Party’s one.

San Lawrenz’ Mayor Noel Formosa has been serving at the council for 25 years.

The PN has also managed to keep hold of Munxar, while Labour has kept hold of Senglea.

Early indications seem to show that Labour could be set to gain the majority in the PN-led local councils of Mosta and Si??iewi, the home district of PN Leader Adrian Delia. However, it is still too early to say.

Naxxar, Floriana, and Zebbu? (Gozo) could also emerge as interesting battlegrounds.

The night could see the PN end these local council elections holding majorities in less than 20 localities. It has lost Valletta, St Paul’s Bay, and San ?wann so far.

After the first two rounds of counting, Labour is currently leading with 60% vote share to the PN’s 37%.

Another 23 towns and villages around Malta and Gozo will elect their local councils this evening, which are:

Swieqi, Attard, Qormi, Naxxar, Mosta, Floriana, Luqa, Senglea, ?amrun, G?arg?ur, G?ira, Kirkop, Si??iewi, Santa Lu?ija, Mtarfa, Xg?ajra, Safi, Vittoriosa, San Lawrenz, Munxar, Qala, Kercem and ?ebbu?
