The renders for a new project that will change the Gudja roundabout into a multi-level intersection have been released.

Two new tunnels and a flyover will connect Kirkop, Gudja, the Malta Freeport, and the Malta International Airport, making access to these four locations easier for drivers.

It’s also hoped that other nearby localities, like Mqabba, Qrendi, Safi and Żurrieq, will benefit from improved access.

New footpaths, a pedestrian over-path and “safe”cycle routes will connect to the new cycling lanes at L-Avjazzjoni Avenue last year.

The project is scheduled to start being implemented in 2020, as part of Infrastructure Malta’s ongoing optimisation of the arterial road network for more road safety, reduced travel times and increased sustainability.

In 2019, the agency is set to invest €64 million in more than 14 arterial road upgrades.
