Five people have been arrested in two raids by Maltese police over the last few days.

The Anti-Drug Squad held two raids in Żejtun where they found substances alleged to be cocaine and heroin.

The first raid occurred on Sunday when police stopped a 53-year-old man in Triq Bon Kunsill, Żejtun. After searching him on the spot, he was found to be carrying three packets of a white substance suspected to be cocaine.

A search was carried out at his house in Triq Siniskal. A K-9 unit was able to sniff out another 11 packets believed to be filled with cocaine.

In a separate operation on Tuesday, police arrested four men after days of surveillance.

A search inside a home in Triq Joe Attard resulted in various sachets of substances suspected to be cocaine and heroin. The substances were packaged and ready to be sold, the police said.

Along with the drugs, a number of drug-related apparatus were discovered, as well as cash money.

Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
